Our carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gasses (carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions.

Knowledge is power. Knowing your personal or business carbon footprint enables you to be able to identify high waste areas so you have the awareness and the drive to reduce those behaviours.

We use the terminology balance out your environmental impact and reducing you waste footprint, instead of carbon offsetting and carbon neutral terms.

We do this because we plant trees instead of buying carbon credits. We think planting trees is more relatable than carbon credits, but the result for our planet is the same!

Our Carbon Accountant, Resource Intelligence, did the heavy lifting to calculate the emission data based on industry averages referenced by Climate Active. Each of our carbon bundles have been independently third party verified.

Step: 1: Research source data for each of the sub-category activities using Australian Bureau of Statistics (abs.gov.au) and/or other verifiable data sources, e.g., Government departments, industry bodies and published papers, ensuring data is appropriate for Australian populations.

Step 2: Record all source data references and assumptions. 

Step 3: Validate the source data by checking alternative sources to ensure that the data used is credible and relevant to the sub-category activity being reported.

Step 4: Assess and select suitable emission factors for the sub-categories activities. Emission factors must be from Australian Government sources or known emission factor databases. 

Step 5: Independent Third party verification of emission data.

We work with our Carbon Accountant, Resource Intelligence, to pre-calculate the carbon averages for you. This saves you time, money and to makes it easy for you to reduce your impact without all the carbon jargon and emission factors slowing you down or confusing you.

Trees sequester CO2 over their lifespan; which means they absorb CO2. We Cool plants enough trees to ensure your emissions are sequestered, or balanced out, by the number of trees we plant for each bundle.

We choose reforestation projects which help with landscape restoration as well as community development. 

We select our projects by ensuring they use collaboration and science-based restoration practices. These specific programs generate substantive benefits designed explicitly by and for each community that support their well-being, raise living conditions, and restore their environment.

We work off the My Native Forest calculation that planting 20 trees today is the equivalent of 1 tonne of CO2 balance as the trees reach maturity over a 50 year period. Based on this calculation we work on the average of 20 trees per tonne of CO2 we want to balance for each category. 

For those individuals or business owners who are too busy to read through all the reforestation project data, we have created the We Cool Combination option. The We Cool Combination plants the number of tress on your behalf depending of the status of the project at the time and where our planting partners advise it's needed most.

This option is intended to allow you to make an impact with as little decision making barrier as possible.

We only work with verified tree planting projects. We work with partners on the ground to use technology that monitors the impact.

This includes per unit data that records timestamps and geo-coordinates of where your impact happened! We then monitor it to ensure real environmental impact and survival over time.
